Holiday light show at the planetarium and six more events on the North Strand
Ingram Planetarium in Sunset Beach, N.C., offers an array of exciting light shows for the holidays. Watching Season of Light, viewers learn why the winter season has some of the warmest celebrations. “Season of Light explores the celestial origins of winter’s most endearing holiday customs while treating visitors to beautifully hand-rendered artwork on our dome,” writes planetarium manager Katherine Hunt in an email. “It is a must- see and a real treat for all ages.”
In the Accidental Astronaut animated characters take a flight into space and land on the moon. Planet 9 examines how complex outer space is and follow astronomer Mike Brown’s belief that there is a Planet 9 after Pluto was demoted. From Earth to the Universe takes viewers on a journey through time and space. The Sky Tonight is a live look at the constellations and planets in the sky.

“Enjoy winter favorites such as Jingle Bell Rock by Randy Travis and Silent Night by Enya while viewing laser artwork and 360 degrees of live lighting effects,” Hunt writes.
The shows begin at noon and follow the above sequence through 4 p.m. with a break at 5 p.m. Season of Light is shown again at 6 p.m. and Laser Holidays is shown at 7 p.m.
