7 fun state park programs to try by Labor Day 2017
Most are free with park admission: $5 for ages 16 and older, $3.25 S.C. seniors, $3 ages 6-15, and free ages 5 and younger.
At Myrtle Beach State Park, on South Kings Highway (U.S. 17 Business), about a mile south of Myrtle Beach International Airport area, at the city limits, across from Seagate Village (843-238-0874 or www.myrtlebeachsp.com):
- “Seine-sational Fun!” 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at pier, for ages 5 and older.
- “Destination Turtle DNA,” 1-2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, in activity center, for ages 8 and older.
- “Legends of the Forest,” 1-2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, in activity center, for ages 5 and older.
Huntington Beach State Park, on U.S. 17, between Murrells Inlet and Litchfield Beach, across from Brookgreen Gardens (843-235-8755 or www.huntingtonbeachsp.com):
- “Beachcombing,” 10-11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, from north beach parking lot.
- “Sea Turtles,” covering loggerheads, 4-5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at washroom area of main parking lot.
- “Atalaya Ghost Tour,” 8:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, for $3 ages 6 and older, otherwise free; bring flashlights.
- “Fish Printing,” 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at washroom area of main parking lot, for $3 – Bring a T-shirt or pillow case to print; fabric paints and paper are provided.
