Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre arrived at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach in 2001, and has been entertaining audiences ever since.

Jerry Winsett, owner of Murder Mystery Productions, brought the idea from Los Angeles where he worked with Keith and Margo’s Murder Mystery Weekend.  After relocating to the area, Winsett performed in front of someone with ties to the House of Blues, and the rest is history.

“It’s a very interactive experience, we do not have a stage,” Winsett said. “If somebody’s sitting next to you at dinner and drops over dead, part of your job is to find out, ‘why did that happen?’ ‘who did that?’ ‘what is the backstory?’ and get us as much of that as possible.”

Donna Paul, who joined the production back in 2002, added to the mystery.

“Unbeknownst to our guests, some of our actors are actually standing in line with them and they actually sit down at the table with them and they have no idea, until maybe they’re stabbed, or poisoned or, meet some other type of  untimely death.”

The event runs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7 pm.

Seafood fans know they’re in for a treat when the catch of the day catches their eye before they even make it to the table. This month, The Flying Fish will be celebrating their eighth anniversary in North Myrtle Beach.

First-time guests will notice right away that the restaurant also is a market, with some of that day’s haul on display, including entire fish on ice gazing woefully through the glass. This fresh food is one of the many reasons The Flying Fish is so popular, with the business promising less than 48 hours between boat and plate.
