The surfoff’s in memory of Guy Daniels, a lifelong Surfside Beach resident who died in 1999 at age 19, and was a College of Charleston student who spent his summers as a lifeguard in Surfside Beach and worked at a local surf shop. More than $100,000 in scholarships have been shared by more than 60 students, too.
A “Push-In/Novice” heat will return, as well a “Kids Activity Tent.” Parking is free in the lot on 13th Avenue South, and free, overflow parking is available on roadsides nearby. Be sure to park in the direction of traffic and keep vehicle tires off the pavement, and do not park near a stop sign, on lawns or reserved areas, or block a driveway.
