Broadway at the Beach is in a period of transition as we all know, bringing a new look and feel to the shopping and retail center.

With that in mind, we talked to Broadway Marketing Manager Melissa Armstrong to find out why after 22 years the popular tourist hotspot decided to revamp the area.

“Broadway at the Beach has been the center of excitement and fun, setting the standard for shopping, dining and entertainment along the Grand Strand since it opened in 1995,” Armstrong said.

“Each year we strive to bring in fresh, new experiences for our guests to enjoy,” Armstrong continued, “and after 20 years it was time for a fresh new look.”

And the new experiences keep coming as well.

Dave & Buster’s has announced they will open their doors to Myrtle Beach on June 5, just about a month away, with Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen set to open later in the year.

“This was a multi-year redevelopment,” Armstrong said, “so there are other plans in the works, and those will be announced in the future.”

Seafood fans know they’re in for a treat when the catch of the day catches their eye before they even make it to the table. This month, The Flying Fish will be celebrating their eighth anniversary in North Myrtle Beach.

First-time guests will notice right away that the restaurant also is a market, with some of that day’s haul on display, including entire fish on ice gazing woefully through the glass. This fresh food is one of the many reasons The Flying Fish is so popular, with the business promising less than 48 hours between boat and plate.
