Myrtle Beach Marathon Chosen for Reunion Race of 50 States Marathon Club

2015 has been a good year for Myrtle Beach.  The Carolina Country Music Festival set up shop on Ocean Boulevard (and announced plans to return in 2016), we got our very own winery, and last and probably most importantly, Myrtle Beach’s very own Coastal Grand Mall FINALLY got an H&M.

The good news doesn’t stop there, though, as the Myrtle Beach Marathon has been selected as the Reunion Race for the 50 States Marathon Club.

Kicking off over the weekend of March 3-5, the 2016 Myrtle Beach Marathon will play host to the 50 States Marathon Club. With the new Runner’s Expo venue at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center and a change in date to early March, the Myrtle Beach Marathon was designated as the reunion location beating out over 150 nationwide marathons taking place throughout the first quarter of 2016.

Reunion Director Dave Bell has been a 3-time participant in the Myrtle Beach Marathon, so that probably helped the city a little bit. Bell began his journey of running a marathon in all 50 states right here in Myrtle Beach after learning about the 50 States club during Myrtle Beach’s inaugural race in 1998.
