Myrtle Waves Water Park is turning the big 3-0.
The park opened on June 1, 1985, and has been helping residents on the Grand Strand battle the heat ever since. The official kick-off will be June 20 with an Anniversary Party and you’re invited!! All-day admission is just $19.85, a $7.14 savings with all kinds of fun in store.
From 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., catch an appearance by Katy Perry and The Blues Brothers™: Tribute Artists from Legends in Concert plus a live DJ, games, and 1980s trivia and prizes from noon to 3 p.m. At 2 p.m., celebrate with free cake while supplies last. Why? Because free cake.
Ready to go home? Well, pump the brakes, because this party is just getting started.
The celebration continues later in June when Myrtle Waves will open their brand new ride, The Rockin’ Ray! The Rockin’ Ray is an extreme water slide experience, one- or two-person ride, standing 39 feet 8 inches tall!! For those of you mathematically challenged individuals, that’s like six Lebron Jameses standing one on top of another. Or eight Danny Devitos. Either way, it’s pretty tall.
The open slide rocks you from one side to the other, then halfway back and shoots you out to a pool. You must be taller than 48″ to ride. This is the first new slide to open since Arooba Tooba at the park in 2008.
“At the 30-year mark, a party is definitely in store and we’re inviting both our local community and visitors alike to join us” says Brent Owens, General Manager. “We are partnering with our friends at Legends in Concert, Mix 97.7 FM and Myrtle Beach DJs to share music, contests, and splashing fun with our guests.”
With all the fun and excitement, what more could you possibly offer us, Myrtle Waves? Read on and I’ll tell you.
