Myrtle Beach SC honors our military men and women on Memorial Day


With all the activities that occur on Memorial Day weekend, the real meaning of the holiday is often overlooked.

So, we took a few patriotic pictures along the Grand Strand.

We also wanted to make sure you knew about the special events dedicated to our service men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Here’s a look at a few of them.

Surfside Beach will host a Memorial Day Cookout on Sunday, May 24. The Swash Tones will be performing. The cookout is from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at the corner of Surfside Drive and Yaupon Drive. Click here for more information.

On Monday, May 25, Surfside Beach will host a Memorial Day Service. The service will be held at the Veterans Memorial in Fuller Park at 2:30 p.m. Click here for more information.

May 23-25, Brookgreen Gardens will host a Red, White and Blue Salute to honor our military men and women. Throughout the gardens, flags will be placed in front of sculptures created by veterans and patriotic sculptures.

La Belle Amie Vineyard. in Little River SC invites you to spend part of your weekend at their annual Music and Cookout. Enjoy live music from The Fat Jack Duo, wine tastings, outdoor cooking and more. The cookout is 1 p.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, May 23. Donate two canned/dry food items for the food bank and receive free admission. Without donation, admission is $3.

Broadway at the Beach invites you to enjoy an evening of fireworks. The Fireworks Extraganza on Saturday, May 23 starts at 10 p.m.

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans will honor Vietnam Veterans on their game Saturday, May 23. Then on Memorial Day, the Pelicans will host fireworks following Monday’s game. Click here for more information.
