A seafood boil, also called a Lowcountry boil or a steam pot, involves seafood like clams, crab, shrimp or mussels steamed or boiled with potatoes, sausage, corn and cajun or Old Bay seasoning.

Mr. Fish

Mr. Fish serves a steam pot built with snow crab, shrimp, clams, potato, sausage and corn at market price or customers can build their own seafood boil, with food being priced by the weight.

Harrelson’s Seafood Market

740 Oak Forest Lane, Myrtle Beach

The Murrells Inlet fish market serves two kinds of Lowcountry boils: one that is hot and ready to be eaten and one that comes frozen. According to owner Sean English, Harrelson’s Seafood Market’s hot and ready boil serves up to four people and includes corn, potatoes, onion, shrimp, and smoked sausage.

The frozen kind includes the same as the hot one but also has clams. The frozen boil is intended as an easy meal, English said.

Tasty Crab House

740 Oak Forest Lane, Myrtle Beach

At the Tasty Crab House, customers can create their own seafood boil. The food is charged by the pound, with seafood starting at $12 a pound for baby clams and rising to $72 a pound for king crab legs. Customers then choose if they want potatoes, corn, boiled eggs or sausage and what kind of seasoning they want.

Big Mike’s Soul Food

504 16th Ave. N., Myrtle Beach

The well-loved soul food joint offers a shrimp boil for $23.99 or a seafood boil for market price. The shrimp boil comes with shrimp, potatoes, corn and sausage and the seafood boil also includes crab legs. Big Mike’s Soul Food does not offer a refund for either meal.

Mr. Crab allows patrons to build their own seafood boil, with ingredient choices such as crab legs, lobster and mussels. The boils also come with the classic potatoes, corn and sausage.

The Broadway at the Beach staple serves up “Joe’s Famous Boils” ranging in price from $35.99 for shrimp, clams, mussels and sausage up to $53.99 for queen crab, shrimp, mussel and sausage. Customers at Mr. Joe’s Crab Shack can choose from seven different seasonings and five spice levels for their boils.

Bimini’s Oyster Bar’s steam pots differ from the rest, as they come with cole slaw and hushpuppies. Patrons can choose from the classic steam pot, the oyster roast or the crab leg feast.

At Lobster House Seafood Restaurant, patrons can order seafood boils and steam pots with lobster, jumbo sea scallops or crab legs. The steam pots all come with clams, mussels, crawfish, sausage, corn and potatoes. Prices range from $44.99 to $109.99.
