The owner of Thai Bistro opened a new restaurant serving Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese food in Myrtle Beach.

Lemongrass, located at the former Saigon Cafe 1943 Mr. Joe White Ave., had its soft opening on Aug. 1, said owner Sak Yiengjuntuek. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch then 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. for dinner Tuesday through Sunday.

Originally from Bangkok, Thailand, Yiengjuntuek has been a Myrtle Beach restauranteur for nearly 20 years. He first opened Thai Season in North Myrtle Beach in 2007 and then went on to open Thai Bistro in 2023 and now Lemongrass.

The Saigon Cafe owner, Mr. Vinh, was sick and sold the restaurant to Yiengjuntuek in May. Mr. Vinh included everything in the restaurant in the sale and also passed on his recipes. This includes banh mis, pho and vermicelli noodle salads.

Yiengjuntuek spent two months renovating the restaurant to bring a classier feel to the space.

Menu highlights at Lemongrass include Thai favorites like pad thai and green curry, Vietnamese staples from Saigon Cafe and Chinese food such as General Tso’s chicken. Customers can choose a variety of proteins for the stir fries and curry from tofu to salmon to roasted duck. The majority of the meals clock in under $20.

There are also a number of cocktails, from the Thai season cosmo to the Lemongrass iced tea, which comes with Firefly, triple sec, amaretto, lime mix, mint schnapps mixed with homemade sweet tea.

Lemongrass does not yet have its liquor license, but expects to start serving alcohol next month, Yiengjuntuek said. In the meantime, customers can bring their own alcohol in.

“I want to bring good food and good experience for the customer,” Yiengjuntuek said.
