Along the coastal communities that make up the Grand Strand, that fact is no different.

Local social media groups often have messages and posts asking what is the best seafood restaurant in the Myrtle Beach area, or the best deal.

Based on online reviews from Yelp and Google, here are some of the top-ranking seafood restaurants along the northeastern South Carolina coast.

1. Mr. Fish Seafood Market and Grill

Taking the No. 1 spot on Yelp for seafood restaurants in Myrtle Beach, this local spot along Kings Highway says it offers fresh local seafood.

One of its main menu items is a seafood platter with options to pick a protein, the cooking style and sides.

In addition to offering grab-and-go platters, Mr. Fish also has a seafood counter and market option for patrons to pick out their own meat to cook at home.

This restaurant has 4.3 stars on Google with over 4,000 reviews and 4.5 stars on Yelp with almost 200 reviews.

2. Fire and Smoke Gastropub

Although this restaurant serves more than just seafood options, it’s Yelp’s second highest ranked seafood restaurant in Myrtle Beach.

Prices tend to be between $50 to $100 per person, according to some of the reviews.

Seafood menu options include Fish Du Jour, U-8 Scallops and Tuna Tartare. For parties looking for premium seafood alongside other-non fish entrees, this restaurant offers options to chose from.

This restaurant has 4.4 stars on Google with over 800 reviews and 4.5 stars on Yelp with 772 reviews.

3. Hook & Barrel

This seafood and cocktail bar offers a great list of appetizers and small plates for those who don’t feel like ordering an entire entree.

Main entree options include grilled or pan-seared fresh catch, a whole grilled fish, crab cakes and citrus-rubbed tuna.

Hook & Barrel also offers a happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. with $5 well drinks, oyster shooters and fish bites for $8.

This restaurant has 4.6 stars on Google with over 4,000 reviews and 4.5 stars on Yelp with 1,700 reviews.

4. 1229 Shine

This top-rated seafood spot is nestled in The Market Common area, just a few miles away from downtown Myrtle Beach.

Small bites on the menu include She Crab Dip topped with fresh crab, lobster sliders and Crab Rangoon Mozzarella Sticks.

1229 Shine also offers a happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday with house liquor and red and white wine at $6, tuna wonton tacos for $6 and shrimp cocktail for $7.

This restaurant has 4.5 stars on Google with almost 700 reviews and 4.3 stars on Yelp with 320 reviews.

5. Tailgate Oyster Bar

Further up the coast, in North Myrtle Beach, this Oyster Bar is the highest ranking seafood spot on Yelp for that area.

“Oysters are always great,” one reviewer wrote on Yelp.

The menu shows it offers oysters raw, steamed or Rockefeller and domestic beer for $3.50.

This restaurant has 4.9 stars on Google with 160 reviews and 4.8 stars on Yelp with 44 reviews.
