Just like many other beachgoers, the reporters and editors at The Sun News love a Pub sub.

The sandwiches from Publix — nicknamed Pub subs — are a popular pick from the grocery store deli. Publix is based in Florida but has over 1,400 locations spread across eight Southern states, its website states.

With hundreds of combinations of sandwiches, here is what The Sun News staff orders at Publix and where we take our sandwiches.

Chris Segal

Position: Senior editor

Pub sub order: Publix Italian sub on whole wheat

Where you take the Pub sub: I take my Pub sub to the pool, but the best place to eat a Pub sub is on a boat.

David Weissman

Position: Investigative reporter

Pub sub order: Chicken tender sub on Italian bread, not toasted, with white American cheese, tomato, lettuce and mayo

Where you take the Pub sub: Back home or on road trips

Emalyn Muzzy

Position: Retail and leisure reporter

Pub sub order: Whatever sub is on sale that week or a maple turkey on a white bread with mayo and honey mustard, the spicy gouda, banana peppers, spinach and cucumbers. I get it toasted if it is not going straight into a cooler.

Where you take the Pub sub: Either on my kayak for a mid-ride meal or to the beach

Elizabeth Brewer

Position: Government and accountability reporter

Pub sub order: Spinach wrap, turkey, Jalepeno Pepper Jack Cheese, lettuce, banana peppers, spinach, green peppers, pickle chips, mayo and sub sauce, not toasted

Maria Elena Scott

Where you take the Pub sub: Anywhere. The nicest place I’ve had a sub was at Brookgreen Gardens, but I don’t have a go-to spot.
