A new Surfside Beach restaurant serving Maryland-style crab cakes, seafood and other treats is opening in the Myrtle Beach area.

Casa Mia’s at 2298 Glenns Bay Road will open with an emphasis on seafood and, specifically, crab cakes. According to food blog Sally’s Baking Recipes, Maryland-style crab cakes usually have a lemon and parsley flavor. Restaurant owner Joe Carolan claimed in his bio on the restaurant’s website he previously worked for the original Casa Mia’s in Maryland, which opened in 1976 and originated the ‘Colossal Crab Cake.’

Carolan did not respond to a request for comment before publication.

The menu also includes tuna tacos, grouper bites, crab dip, calamari and Maryland crab soup — a tomato-based dish served with blue crab and various vegetables. The menu also has an extensive cocktail menu, from Palomas to chocolate martinis. Casa Mia’s will also have happy hour from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m Monday through Friday.

According to the eatery’s Facebook page, Casa Mia’s will open in September 2024.The eatery’s website also says Casa Mia’s is hiring.
