Grease, grime and a ceiling hole: This restaurant got the worst inspection in Georgetown

While the agency overseeing restaurant inspections may have changed, determining which restaurants are clean throughout Horry and Georgetown County has not.

Two new agencies have replaced the former South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services and the South Carolina Department of Public Health will now oversee SCDHEC’s previous responsibilities, with the Department of Public Health overseeing restaurant inspections.

With inspections as recent as July 4, 2024, This Georgetown area restaurant received the worst inspection score.

Super Chic

Grade: 83 percent

Location: 15 West Main St. in Andrews

The now-defunct SCDHEC inspected Super Chic June 27, 2024, and gave it a ‘C’ letter grade for multiple violations. The inspection found a hole in the ceiling beside a vent.

Meanwhile, the inspection found debris accumulation behind a Pepsi cooler and around the self-service counter. The inspection also found grease and grime buildup and debris throughout the facility, and SCDHEC didn’t receive a chlorine test kit to test its sanitizing solution.

SCDHEC also reported that coleslaw for sale lacked a date marking and that an employee was handling food with bare hands, not gloves.

The inspection concluded with posting a ‘C’ grade at Super Chic due to consecutive violations at the eatery.
