Flies and soiled surfaces in the kitchen. Worst Myrtle Beach area restaurant inspections

Myrtle Beach area restaurants were found to have flies in their kitchen along with grease and debris build-up. Furthermore, one employee was found sleeping on the floor.

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control routinely inspects restaurants for health violations; its inspections were up to date as of April 3, 2024. Here are the worst grades SCDHEC gave.

Lobster House Seafood

Address: 5301 South Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach

Score: 70 percent

SCDHEC inspected Lobster House Seafood Mar. 26, 2024, and found several violations.

SCDHEC found ready-to-eat food that was more than a week old and had soiled surfaces inside the dish machine cabinet. SCDHEC also found broken light bulbs in the kitchen, food kept at improperly held temperatures and other violations.

Lobster House Seafood must have an on-site, follow-up inspection within 10 days to address the violations in SCDHEC’s report. If the eatery doesn’t correct its violations, it could be downgraded.

Texas Roadhouse Grill

Address: 760 Coastal Grand Circle, Myrtle

Score: 71 percent

SCDHEC inspected Texas Roadhouse Grill and found several violations.

SCDHEC found food stored in a walk-in cooler on the floor under chemicals. The inspection also found soiled wiping cloths “everywhere.”

Texas Roadhouse Grill had dirty floors and grease build-up throughout the facility, according to SCDHEC’s report. SCDHEC also observed an employee working with raw foods not washing their hands and one employee using their cell phone while on the cook line.

SCDHEC inspected Texas Roadhouse Grill twice more, once on Mar. 28, 2024, receiving an 85 percent grade and once on April 3, 2024, receiving a 79 percent grade.

SCDHEC found flies in the kitchen Mar. 28, 2024, and the inspection noted the restaurant employees seemed to throw food in the trash as the inspector entered the kitchen before they could conduct their inspection, among other violations.

As a result, SCDHEC posted a C grade for the Myrtle Beach Texas Roadhouse Grill location.

Loris Mini Mart

Address: 3201 Highway 70 South

Score: 83 percent

SCDHEC inspected Loris Mini Mart Mar. 27, 2024, and found several inspections. The SCDHEC inspection found an employee sleeping on a bed on the floor in the mop sink room.

The report also found raw chicken stored on top of raw beef, a non-working towel dispenser in the hand sink and other violations. According to SCDHEC, Loris Mini Mart is required to have an on-site follow-up inspection within 10 days.
