A new restaurant is being built in Barefoot Landing. Here is when it will open to diners.
A new restaurant is being built in Barefoot Landing.
In 2019, the building between Taco Mundo Kitchen y Cantina and River City Cafe in the Barefoot Landing shopping and entertainment mall was demolished due to the presence of asbestos, according to public records. The 9,000 square foot waterfront structure once held Surf & Sand Beach Shoppe, Candy Mikes and Stillhouse BBQ.
But according to a sign in Barefoot Landing, the site will hold a local restaurant called the “Big Chill,” which will open in Spring 2024.
The building permit from BEC Construction Inc. for the restaurant was issued on April 19. “Big Chill” Restaurant will be a two-story free-standing restaurant, which means it will be the only business in the new building. There will be outdoor dining and a rooftop patio dining area, according to the construction records.
Attempts from The Sun News to reach out to the contractor were unsuccessful.
A business license has not been issued to Big Chill Restaurant yet.
