Results are in: Here’s what readers are craving most for the Thanksgiving day feast
Last Friday, we asked you what Thanksgiving dish you were looking forward to the most. The day is finally here, and results are in! Readers preferred the classic Thanksgiving dish, turkey, over other side items. Stuffing came in a close second.
Turkeys are more expensive this year
According to the Farm Bureau, it’s $28.96 for a 16-pound bird. That’s $1.81 per pound, and 21% more than last year. Farm Bureau says it’s due to several economic factors “beyond general inflation.”
Those factors include a “slightly smaller flock this year, increased feed costs and lighter processing weights,” AFBF chief economist Roger Cryan said in a release. Supply of turkeys should be adequate throughout the country, but regional area may see shortages due to the avian influenza being detected earlier this year.
