Where to go for the best Myrtle Beach area happy hour, according to Yelp

Mwallace@thesunnews.com

First, where did the term “happy hour” come from?

It’s almost always more than one singular hour and most restaurants that serve alcohol will have a happy hour sometime in the late afternoon.

According to Miriam-Webster, the name was created during World War I when the U.S. Navy would allow their sailors a “happy hour” in which they were allowed to watch boxing or wrestling matches and just relax. There was no drinking allowed on the ships during this time so the term wasn’t associated with alcohol until much later.
