Restaurants along the Grand Strand offer different varieties of seafood platters, and our readers told us about some of the best. If you’re looking for a top-notch seafood platter, check out our list below.
Here are some of our readers’ favorite places to find a seafood platter
Chesapeake House, 9918 US-17 in Myrtle Beach
Chesapeake House offers two different seafood platters, one with flounder, shrimp, oysters scallops and deviled crab. The other allows more flexibility, allowing guests to pick two or three of the following: fried fish fingers, fantail shrimp, inlet shrimp, oysters, flounder, deviled crab, calamari or clam strips.
“Trendy yet traditional. Old school quality,” wrote one Sun News reader named Troy Green.
Driftwood’s Seafood and Steak, 10799 SC-707 in Murrells Inlet
Billy Mills of Surfside Beach recommends the Driftwood platter for two, which comes with shrimp, oysters, scallops, deviled crab, flounder and clam strips.
“Wonderful food at a reasonable price,” Mills wrote.
Drunken Jack’s, 4031 US-17 Business in Murrells Inlet
Drunken Jack’s also made The Sun News’ list of our readers’ best seafood restaurants along the Grand Strand. Jeff Usher suggested Jack’s seafood platter served “Jack’s way” fried or broiled with flounder, fantail shrimp, oysters and a crab cake.
The Murrells Inlet spot also offers a combo platter, where customers can choose two or three items. The options are a flounder fillet, fantail shrimp, oysters, sea scallops, crab cake or creek shrimp. This option is also served fried or broiled.
Hanser House, 14360 Ocean Highway in Pawleys Island
Down on the South Strand, Hanser House includes an early bird menu from 4 to 6 p.m.
“Grilled seafood platter prepared perfectly on every visit!” Keith Lamm wrote.
The grilled platter, described as “a local favorite for the one who can’t decide,” comes with flounder, fantail shrimp, scallops and a crab cake. The restaurant also offers a fried platter with the same seafood, plus oysters.
Hoskins Restaurant, 405 Main St. in North Myrtle Beach
Hoskins in North Myrtle Beach offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and includes daily lunch specials. The seafood platter comes with shrimp, flounder, scallops, oysters and crab cake.
For Kim Strong, the fried shrimp and scallops are the best items on the menu.
Hot Fish Club, 4911 US-17 Business in Murrells Inlet
The Hot Fish platter comes fried or grilled, with local flounder, shrimp, fried oysters and crab cake. For an upcharge, guests can opt for New Bedford scallops.
“So many incredible flavors on one plate,” wrote Greg Forquer.
Lee’s Inlet Kitchen, 4460 US-17 Business in Murrells Inlet
The fried seafood platter at Lee’s is considered a house specialty. It comes with flounder, oysters, scallops, deviled crab and a choice of fantail shrimp or creek shrimp.
Jack Kell put it simply: “All is good.”
Sea Captain’s House, 3002 North Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach
The Carolina seafood platter at Sea Captain’s House is available broiled or fried. Recommended by Dallas Maxwell, it comes with flounder, shrimp and scallops, along with a choice of side.
Salt Water Grille, 7036 SC-90 in Longs
The Salt Water Grille has an entire section on its menu dedicated to seafood platters. The salt water special comes with flounder, small shrimp and deviled crab, while the seafood lovers plate includes oysters, scallops, shrimp, deviled crab and flounder. There are more platters to choose from if you’re looking for a specific type of seafood.
“Portions perfect and fried to perfection,” wrote Phyliss Wedge.
