When Crady’s Eclectic Cuisine in downtown Conway closed its doors, it felt like the end of an era, but when one door closes, another tends to open.
Where there was once bright teal, there is now lively lime green beckoning people from the sidewalks. Main Street Jamaican Restaurant celebrated their grand opening in December 2017 and with happy smiles, the team is ready to share a bit of their colorful culture with the people of Conway.

Inside, beautiful murals greet each customer and in the background, the mellow chords of famous Jamaican artists set a relaxed atmosphere. Guests tend to order before seating themselves, but for those unfamiliar with the cuisine, taking the time to examine the menu and ask questions is worthwhile.
To start, parties can enjoy chicken wings that come in a variety of forms, from hot to barby fried, which come brushed with the restaurant’s barbeque sauce. Main Street Jamaican also serves chicken and dumpling soup, a perfectly warm dish to enjoy during the winter. The entrees host other popular Jamaican foods, including oxtails and brown stewed chicken. Jerk chicken has its place as well, and has been marinated in a perfect blend of spicy and sweet. Many of the meats are slow cooked, so these dishes come out hot and tender, and all the entrees come with steamed vegetables and rice.
A small selection of sandwiches is available, and with those guests can add a side, such as pasta salad or Festival, which is sweet bread. For a lighter meal, the restaurant also serves salads, including one topped with jerk chicken. Kids also have a few options, like a grilled cheese sandwich or wings.
Like their delicious food, Main Street Jamaican also makes some juices in house. Green and orange liquid swirl behind the counter, and the servers are more than happy to offer a taste of the two. The cucumber juice is surprisingly refreshing and the carrot juice, instead of tasting overwhelmingly of the vegetable, is creamy and pleasantly sweet.
Daily specials are sure to encourage people to come back more than once so they can try the escovitch fish meal on Wednesday then come back on Friday to enjoy some goat curry.
Customers can always call ahead, or simply pop in to place their order to go. As the restaurant gets settled in, they hope to start catering and offer the choice for online ordering.
Though this year is rapidly approaching its end, fresh beginnings are possible year-round. Whether you want to experience new foods or simply enjoy more of this Caribbean cuisine, visiting Conway’s new Main Street Jamaican Restaurant is one resolution that will be easy to keep.
