Peño Mediterranean Grill got its start in Wilmington, North Carolina, and has been blossoming as a franchise because of their dedication to their customers in providing great food made with fresh ingredients.

Having changed the restaurant’s name from Baba Ghannouj Bistro to Peño earlier this year and opening up a location in Charleston, the new Myrtle Beach restaurant makes for the business’s third location. Not only that, an additional three are already in the making, increasing the options for fast Mediterranean food in the Carolinas.
Much of the food served at Peño’s is made based on the founder’s family recipes, including the tzatziki sauce and their popular hummus. All the restaurant’s hummus, salads, and sauces are made in house on a daily basis, as well as the falafel and stuffed grape leaves.
Everything on the menu can be ordered to dine in or take out, including the popular side dishes. There will always be a few hummus choices that come with lightly toasted pita, such as the spicy red pepper or the seasonal hummus. Guests can also take their favorite salad with them, and all these and more come in three different sizes.
The bulk of the menu consists of gyro sandwiches, wraps, bowls, and platters. Fans of the classic gyro will find an abundance to enjoy, with wonderfully tender beef and lamb meat smothered in lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki sauce coming in a number of forms. Vegetarian choices are readily available, such as a falafel gyro topped with tahini sauce and pickled turnips.
For something perhaps a little more familiar, guests can enjoy a Philly cheese steak gyro or wrap. The sandwiches and wraps can be upgraded for about $3 which allows a drink and side to come with the entrée. But the main meals are so generously proportioned, finishing both is practically a herculean task.

Even as the workers are still smoothing out the occasional hiccup, they do their best in providing exceptional service with a smile.
As this young restaurant continues to get settled in, catering options will open up for the area. In the meantime, fans of Mediterranean flavors should skedaddle on over to Peño to enjoy the charming character of the food and the employees, one as pleasant as the other.
