The Myrtle Beach Planning Commission is considering plans for a 100-room Hampton Inn and Suites at The Market Common.
The commission heard the initial proposal at its meeting Tuesday. The proposed hotel, which was not in the original plans for The Market Common, would be located at Farrow Parkway and Phillis Boulevard.

Developers with The Market Common have been meeting with residents about the change in its original plan.
Some planning commission members have expressed concern about the look of the proposed hotel, saying ti does not have a modern look that would blend well with the rest of the relatively newer development. The commission will discuss the project further at a March 21 meeting. The plans would then have to go to the Community Appearance Board before it would go before the full council.
Both the Hilton and Marriott brands are currently expanding in the Myrtle Beach area as well.
