A new Myrtle Beach bakery will have fresh bread, pastries and coffee. Here’s when it opens
For Gus Pena, there was one natural next step in his long, culinary journey. Starting his own bakery. So that’s what he and business partner Frank Rodriguez did.
Le Manna Bread is a new bakery and restaurant that will open in Myrtle Beach tentatively in October 2023. The new eatery is located at 507 9th Ave. North in Myrtle Beach, a short walk from the beach. Le Manna will be open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day.
The bakery also draws on religious references for its name. Le Manna is inspired by Manna that fell from heaven in The Book of Exodus to feed the Israelites.
Customers can order food from the menu and or pick up fresh bread for the day. Pena said the bakery will make various French and Italian breads like focaccia, ciabatta, baguettes, brioche and croissants.
Breads like ciabatta are softer he said, and if people are interested in trying it, they’ll have to come and give it a taste.
“I don’t know how to explain (ciabatta), but it’s something pretty good,” Pena added.
The breads will be complemented by several different pastries too like muffins, macaroons and fruit tarts. Customers can couple their brioche bun or muffin with different coffees like mocha, cappuccino or espresso to go with it.
Le Manna has other menu items aside from bakery staples. Pena added that the restaurant will serve soups, salads and panini sandwiches too. Pena said customers can expect a nice, relaxed atmosphere at Le Manna Bread.
Le Manna Bread will have seating for 20 to 30 inside. The grand opening will probably be on a Saturday in October and will have free giveaways, He added.
The business duo behind Le Manna both have experience in the baking world. Pena worked in the baking industry for more than 25 years. He previously worked at Panera Bread and received a certification from The American Institute of Baking.
“Baking is my passion,” Pena said. “I’ve been doing the same thing for many years.”
Rodriguez also has experience in the industry. Currently a loan officer at QC Lending in Charlotte, North Carolina, Frank Rodriguez attended culinary school and also served as director of operations at a Venezuelan pastry and bakery school.
The restaurant is looking to hire about 18 people and will begin hiring closer to when it opens, at least 6-10 people per shift Pena said. He added the restaurant is still looking for its master baker.
