There are a lot of rules you’ll need to know before getting behind the wheel of a golf cart. For starters, South Carolina law permits that only individuals 16 and older who have a valid driver’s license can drive a golf cart, though, depending on the company you’re renting from, the age limit may be older.
Also, golf carts can only be driven during daylight hours, so once the sun sets, you’ll need to park your cart. You should also note that golf carts can’t be driven on roads where the speed limit exceeds 35 mph.
Though these may not be laws written in the books, it’s also advised that children and pets are safely secured when the golf cart is in motion. Keep in mind that golf carts also don’t have lights, horns, blinkers and other safety features that cars do.
