11 Myrtle Beach area golf courses were ranked for the best in South Carolina
Nearly a dozen Myrtle Beach area public-access golf courses rank as some of the best golf courses in South Carolina.
The magazine Golfweek ranks courses nationwide every year based on a 10-point scale rated by more than 800 raters around the world in the magazine’s annual Golfweek’s Best.
The list breaks down 20 of the country’s best courses by state and ranks each based on routing, landscaping, its “walk in the park” test to determine how likely you would be to spend at least four hours there, and other criteria.
The Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach ranked No. 3 behind a course in Kiawah Island and another in Hilton Head.
The Dunes is known for its alligator sightings and hosting the PGATour ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic.
“Sister courses” Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island ranked at No. 4 and True Blue Golf Club also in Pawleys Island earned the No. 5 spot.
“Being ranked among the top 5 public golf courses in South Carolina is an honor we take great pride in,” Director of Operations for the courses Bart Romano said in a press release. “We’re delighted that Golfweek’s raters continue to recognize what traveling golfers have experienced for years–that these courses offer something truly special.”
