These Myrtle Beach area golf courses are some of the nation’s best. Here’s the list
A national golf publication named several Myrtle Beach area golf courses among the top 200 best resort-style locations in the United States, with one making the top 50.
If the Grand Strand was a city, the five golf courses selected for the list would have tied for second most of any location in America, just behind a resort that has hosted multiple PGA Tour Majors and is one of the most respected locations in golf.
In January 2025, GolfWeek ranked the 200 best resort-style courses in the United States. The publication’s list featured several Myrtle Beach area courses in the ranking.
These Myrtle Beach area courses made the top 200:
- Myrtle Beach’s Dunes Golf and Beach Club tied for 50th.
- Pawleys Island’s Caledonia Golf & Fish Club tied for 55th.
- Pawley’s Island’s True Blue Golf Club tied for 93rd.
- Myrtle Beach’s Moorland course at Legends Golf Resort tied for 185th.
- North Myrtle Beach’s Dye Course at Barefoot Resort & Golf tied for 198th.
If the Myrtle Beach area were a singular city, the Grand Strand would be among the most featured in GolfWeek’s list. The Myrtle Beach area’s five courses tied for the second-most.
The Myrtle Beach area tied Bandon, Ore., as five of Bandon Dunes Golf Resort’s courses featured on the list. Pinehurst, N.C., featured the most courses in Golfweek’s rankings, with all six courses coming from the Pinehurst Resort. Pinehurst No. 2 hosted the 2024 U.S. Open.
South Carolina garnered considerable representation in GolfWeek’s ranking. The state featured 11 courses on Golfweek’s ranking, the seventh most of any in America. All of the Palmetto State’s featured courses came from the Myrtle Beach area, Kiawah Island or Hilton Head Island.
These include:
- Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s Ocean Course ranked ninth.
