A Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course will re-open this fall after undergoing renovations to its bunkers and greens.

Pawleys Plantation is expected to re-open in October, according to a press release from course owner Founders Group International.

The course did not immediately return a request for comment.

Pawleys Plantation’s address is 70 Tanglewood Drive on Pawleys Island.

Pawleys Plantation will look different to golfers once it re-opens.

Every bunker on the course has been overhauled, according to the press release. More expansive bunkers on holes one through four, seven, eight, 10, 12, 16 and 18 will be replaced with smaller traps or native areas.

Some of the larger bunkers might become expanded fairways.

Pawleys Plantation’s greens are also being restored. The Jack Nicklaus-designed course enlarged its greens by about 40,000 square feet, making them 48 percent bigger, according to the press release.

Pawleys Plantation closed May 22 for renovations but is the second Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course in the Grand Strand to get its greens upgraded.

Long Bay Golf Club in Longs, SC, recently re-opened to the public after resizing and reseeding its putting services.

Long Bay’s restorations also made its greens closer to their original size, and the project cost about $200,000.
