Belly putter ban sparks mixed reactions from pro golfers

Matt Kuchar has been a sought-after commodity on practice putting greens at PGA Tour venues over the past couple years, in increasing regularity in recent months.

With the PGA Tour ban on anchored putting strokes approaching, belly putters are soon to become a thing of the past in the professional game.

The rule carries over to the amateur game as well.

Players who have relied on anchored putting desperate to find a new technique are intrigued by Kuchar’s putting style.

Kuchar uses a longer shaft than a traditional putter and braces the top portion of the shaft against the inside of his left forearm, which is allowed because the arm is a moving part in the putting stroke.
