This Midlands school is closed the rest of the week because of a virus

A Midlands school is closing its doors for the rest of the week because of a viral outbreak.

Clarendon Hall will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The Christian school in Summerton released a statement that it’s closing because of “a number of students and staff members who have tested positive for the influenza virus.”

In addition to classes, all activities for the rest of the week have also been canceled.

“Our first concern is always the safety of our students, staff, parents and the school community. After consulting with health care professionals, we made the decision to close for the remainder of the week.”

School officials are encouraging anyone with flu-like symptoms to seek medical attention and “quarantine themselves until they are 24 hours symptom-free.”

The school will be cleaned and disinfected during the closure.

Plans are to re-open Clarendon Hall on Monday, and the Athletic Banquet will be held that night at 6:30.
