JC Penney is looking at Coastal Grand Myrtle Beach mall as a possible site for a new building.
No lease has been signed, but the proposal is in front of Myrtle Beach's Community Appearance Board this week.
The plans call for a one-story, 105,008-square-foot store.
Representatives of Colonial Mall-Myrtle Beach and Inlet Square say their Penney locations will remain in the shopping centers.

Tween appeal at Broadway
Several stores will be opening at Broadway at the Beach in the next few weeks:
Club Libby Lu, a tween-oriented retailer, will open its first S.C. store Monday at the Charleston Boardwalk area, just down from the Key West Grill. The store's concept is unique for this area - interactive exhibits and shopping.
Customers, usually girls ages 6 to 12, can dress up like princesses or rock stars; get their hair done; mix perfumes, lotions and body scrubs; create stuffed dogs in the Pooch Parlor; or get their ears pierced.
Club Libby Lu operates 87 mall-based locations nationwide, including three in North Carolina - two in Charlotte and one in Greensboro. Visit www.clublibbylu.com for information.
Department 56 is holding its grand opening next Thursday in the New England Fishing Village East area of Broadway, opposite Build-A-Bear Workshop. The store sells collectibles, giftware and seasonal decorations.

Lewis Furniture is having major sales as it prepares to close its two S.C. locations.
The chain has a third store in North Carolina, which will remain open.
The store in Myrtle Beach on U.S. 501 will close around March 20, and a business will open there in April. Furniture and other items are discounted 40 percent to 70 percent.
