For The Surge

While a LBD (little black dress) is the go-to for cocktail parties and a night out, and the LWD (little white dress) is the go-to for summer soirees and garden parties, the denim dress is the perfect in between option.

Denim dresses are great versatile pieces because they pair well with any color and can be dressed up or down depending on the dress’ cut and styling.

A shirtdress offers the most classic silhouette and is perfect when presented in denim. Gap’s 1969 Denim Western Shirtdress ($69.95) offers a relaxed style with its straight, easy fit, belted waist, snap cuffs, and patch pockets.

Its medium shade of indigo offers a casual approach to dressing. Roll up the long sleeves and pair the dress with a vibrant hued crossbody bag and espadrilles for easy summer style. Or, pull on a cardigan, tights and booties when the temperatures cool in the fall.

For a chicer approach to the denim dress, the Sophie Max Checkered Denim Twill Dress ($118, Belk) is playful option. Sleeveless with a button front neckline, the dark indigo wash of the dress is accented by a white checkered pattern and fitted A-line cut.

Throw on a white blazer and nude heels to wear the dress to work, or add glossy red heels and a clutch for dressier occasions.
