For The Surge

If you’re looking for a fresh addition (or two) to add to your closet, think of adding pieces in a versatile color, especially as we begin looking ahead at transitioning from summer to fall.

Yellow has been a popular color this summer with celebrities hitting runways and parties decked in the vibrant hue from head to toe. But if you’re shy about wearing vibrant colors- or just prefer a more subdued palette- yellow in a range of mellow shades can look and feel just as chic.

Head-to-toe

One way to flaunt the trend is by donning a stunning dress. The Hydrangea Flutter Dress in Golden Yellow ($89.50, LOFT) is an elegant option. Perfect for an outdoor summer wedding dressed up with heels or worn for a casual gathering with a cardigan, the dress features a split round neck that ties, flutter cap sleeves, and a tie-front waist. The golden yellow hue of the dress is accented by a white hydrangea print and a relaxed A-line silhouette.

On top

A feminine, flowy blouse in a vibrant yellow print will add a kick to any closet. The St. John’s Bay Sleeveless Floral Ladder Trim Blouse in Liberty Gold ($36, JCPenney) offers an affordable option. The loose cut of the top is highlighted by a yellow and white floral print and ladder lace detail that runs along the top of the neckline. Wear it to work under a white blazer with black slacks, or go for casual cool and pair it with nude strappy sandals and crisp navy capris.

Around the bottom

Mellow out with yellow in a pair of bottoms for a more relaxed approach. Step into H&M’s Loose Fit Pants in Patterned Yellow ($17.99) for a comfortable look. The wide tapered legs and loose cut of the pants is accented by the cream and yellow leaf print. Tuck in a flowy black tank or pair them with a fitted white t-shirt for optimal style.
