Instant Polish: the gel look or instant dry? | Beauty/Fashion

I always have had a love for nail polish and am ever on the prowl for a cool or unique shade. In the past year or two, I’ve noticed two big trends among drugstore polishes — the gel look or something that dries in an instant.

I decided to try two brands of instant dry nail polish. I bought Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dry in Lively Lilac, and NYC In A Minute in Prince Street. The Sally Hansen bottle cost $3.98, and the NYC polish cost $1.98, I found both at Walmart. I picked purple shades in honor of The Purple One, Prince.

So, I tested each shade out. What I was looking for is if it dried without any smudges after a minute. To be safe, I waited two minutes. The Sally Hansen product did not smudge at all when I rubbed my nail after I applied it. The NYC In A Minute polish did smudge in a couple of places.

It’s also worth noting that both polishes are Big 3 Free, but I couldn’t find any credible information on whether they are vegan or cruelty-free. If I was in a rush to go somewhere, I would definitely choose to use one of these products as opposed to vinyl nail wraps or something.
