Thankfully, beach season is just around the corner. As temperatures continue to climb, preparing for sun soaked afternoons lazing in the sand becomes a priority. If you’re like me and in need of a beach tote that’s not only functional but chic, now is the time to shop. Retailers are releasing their summer handbag lines full of colorful and stylish options at a variety of price points.

Splurge

Whether you’re headed to the pool or beach, you can’t go wrong investing in a roomy drawstring tote. Vera Bradley’s Mesh Tote in Orange with Cobalt Stripe ($78) is a trendy option. The vibrant orange mesh pops next to the cobalt strap and striped bottom. You can stash your keys and change in the exterior pocket for safe keeping, while the drawstring closure allows you to cinch it and go.

Spend

For a more runway chic approach to toting your stuff around, opt for a tote with a pattern made of neutral shades. The Reed RK40 Abstract Tote in Sunflower ($69, Kohl’s) features large sunflowers outlined in black and yellow set against a white canvas background. The bag offers two pockets on the inside and one on the outside, perfect for keeping organized. This tote is part of the collaboration between Kohl’s and Reed Krakoff, the fashion designer who was once the former executive creative director for Coach.

Save

If you don’t want to spend a lot but still want a stylish option for carrying your beach towel and a book, you can’t go wrong with a straw tote. The Merona Women’s Straw Tote in Natural ($35, Target) is an affordable option with lots of style. Large and roomy with a double handle, it also features a multicolored bag charm that adds a pop of color.
