Q) Are you a local?

A) I’ve lived here about 10 years, so I guess technically I’m a local now, I’m form Chicago originally.

Q) How long have you been a bartender?

A) I’ve been bartending a long time, well over 10 years.

Q) How’d you get into it?

A) I started in the service industry working in restaurants, kitchens, stuff like that. I got an opportunity one day to be a barback, one of the bartenders called out, they needed somebody to bartend, and it just kind of all went form there.

Q) Best part about being a bartender?

A) You don’t have a salary. A lot of what you make depends on you and how hard you work and the kind of people you bring in. To me there’s no cap on how much you can make. That’s probably the thing I like most about it.

Q) Favorite drink?

A) A whisky on the rocks, or a whisky straight up.

Q) Best tip you’ve ever gotten?

A) $800. I worked at a club before, we had an NFL player come in and did bottle service, they were really happy with how everything was and gave us $800 at the end of the night, that was, one heck of a tip!

Q) Biggest bar tab you’ve ever seen?

A) About $6,000. Again it was one of those bottle service type tables.

Q) Worst quality in a bar patron?

A) Impatience? Somebody who doesn’t really understand that there’s 40 other people waiting for a drink.

Q) Best part about working at The Brass Tap?

A) Every single day you come in, you don’t know what to expect. In a good way. We have new beers that come in multiple times a day several times a week. Every time you walk in the door there’s something new to try.

Q) Trevor Barnes’ signature drink?

A) It’s called “On Your Mark.” Two ounces of Maker’s Mark, a lemon orchard, simple syrup, and two dashes of blood orange bitters.
