Open/Shut Case | New taqueria opens in Conway; Mai Tai’s beach house opens in Myrtle Beach

▪  Rivertown Bistro has been a popular go-to restaurant in Conway for a number of years, so fans will be excited to hear about their sister restaurant’s grand opening. Bonfire Smokin’ Taqueria celebrated their first customers on Feb. 10 on downtown Conway’s Main Street.

Bonfire now stands in the place where Sidewheeler used to be and aims to provide a creative take on the barbeque experience. Included on their menu is an array of tacos and sandwiches filled with their pulled pork or taco beef. They also spice things up with their nachos and keep it traditional with their barbeque plates.

This new taqueria also proudly possesses a selection of wine on tap, which remains a pretty unique aspect in the Grand Strand. Eight choices of beer on tap match the amount of wine, and guests can choose different sizes of both.

Bonfire can be reached at 843-488-4227 as well as their website, smithsbonfire.com. The restaurant also has social media accounts, including Facebook and Instagram. You can try this new fusion taqueria at 110 Main Street in Conway from Wednesday through Saturday during the hours of 10 in the morning to 10 at night.

▪ Mai Tai’s Beach House and Grille commemorated a new beginning on Feb. 20, with a local band and friends. This bar is located by the Family Kingdom on Yaupon Circle in Myrtle Beach, easily within walking distance of the beach.

True to their name, Mai Tai hopes to serve delicious and fruity cocktails to their guests in a fun and colorful atmosphere. The food won’t be overlooked either, with enough variety to satisfy tummies and plans to have those dishes made fresh.

Open in Myrtle Beach’s reportedly oldest bar building in Myrtle Beach, Mai Tai’s will of course have Happy Hour from 4-7 every day. A few appetizers will be discounted, along with $2 domestic beer bottles and $3 well drinks and house wines.

Mai Tai’s is open daily from 11 in the morning. Normally, they will close at midnight, but on Friday and Saturday, the party will keep going until 2 a.m. or even longer. Visit their website, maitais.vpweb.com or facebook.com/maitais, for more information. The bar can also be reached at 843-945-1364.

▪ Fans of the long-standing Second Avenue Pier Restaurant and Bar in Myrtle Beach will be glad to hear it is reopening for the season on March 3. Fantastic seafood and sea views will once again be available on a daily basis to be taken advantage of by beach goers especially as the weather begins to warm up.

On the first floor, the restaurant provides wonderful meals for families and friends, while the second story has the popular open air bar with a gorgeous view. Both eateries are open every day of the week but with differing hours, so check the website, secondavepier.com, to learn when to drop by, or visit them at their Facebook page. Guests can also call 843-445-7437 to talk to one of the Pier employees.
