The pizza at N.Y. Pizza Kitchen is a real treat for the senses.
Even for a person who is more inclined to Southern cuisine, the New York-style pizza is a culinary experience.
The crust has a surprising, crispy flavor. The tomato sauce is tangy and the cheese is very fresh.
In other words, the N.Y. Pizza Kitchen is good for anyone who craves some fresh ingredients in a clean, attractive environment.
The third branch of the N.Y. Pizza Kitchen opened last March. There are two other branches in Myrtle Beach, both of which are closed for the winter season.
The branch located in the Lowe’s Shopping Center in Pawleys Island is open for business.
The restaurant continues to attract a wide variety of customers. It serves a special kind of pizza favored by New York residents.
“Our owner lived in Brooklyn for 30 years,” said server Delaney Hicks.
The recipes are old family favorites, according to Hicks.
Brothers Max and Armond Alon decided to open the New York-style businesses after realizing there was a local craving for northern favorites.
The menu now includes philly cheese steak hoagies, chicken philly sandwiches, shrimp po’ boys, ham and cheese hoagies and vegetable philly hoagies.
The real treat is the hand-tossed pizza, available in a variety of flavors and with a variety of toppings.
The pizza selection is a dizzying collection of feta cheese, meatballs, mozarella, garlic and red sauce.
The crust is hand tossed, and made fresh every day, Hicks said.
The hand tossing results in an airy, crisp, crust that lets the cheese bake right in and the other ingredients settle down in the dough.
Ingredients such as spinach and feta cheese fit perfectly with the homemade crust.
Freshly-made pizza is not the only item on the menu.
There is also fettucini alfredo, spaghetti, meatballs and lasagna.
The restaurant has many specials on drinks and food throughout the week.
Lunch specials include two slices of pizza and a soft drink for $7.
Happy hour is from 4-6 p.m. each day.
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. The closing hours are later on weekends.
Delivery is available from Debordieu to North Litchfield.
All appetizers are half priced during happy hour.
Domestic beer is $2 during happy hour. House wine is $3.
On Mondays, diners can enjoy all-you-can-eat salad with garlic knots. On Sundays, all-you-can-eat spaghetti and garlic knots is available for $8. Adding chicken, shrimp or meatballs is an extra $3.
NFL specials include a pitcher of domestic beer and 20 chicken wings for $19.99. A pitcher of craft beer and 20 wings can be purchased for $21.99.
