Theme park news and Kurt Cobain’s hair?

Lots to talk about this week so let’s jump right into it.

First things first, Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida is opening a Nintendo theme park, and your 10-year-old self is going to crap his (or her) pants.

“The immersive experiences will include major attractions at Universal’s theme parks and will feature Nintendo’s most famous characters and games,” stated an official release.

This is huge news for Universal, who are constantly in a state of remodel. The park just announced that it had shut down the iconic “Twister” experience, to be replaced with “Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon,” a 4D-type experience starring the Tonight Show host. How this is any different than Epcot’s esteemed “Soarin’” ride on a slightly smaller scale is beyond me. Perhaps it’s just 13-year-old me’s bitterness from no longer getting to have a special Orlando connection with Phillip Seymour Hoffman. One last time, for the road.

- “Food. Foood. Foooood...”

- “Why do you boys call Billy ‘The Extreme’?”

- “Because Billy...IS The Extreme.”

- “The Suck Zone...It’s the point when the twister...sucks you up. That’s not the technical term for it, obviously.”

Ok, we got that out of the way.

“Fashionably late again, Jonas.”

Ok, I promise that’s the last one.

In other super awesome amazing theme park news, Lionsgate Entertainment announced that they would be bringing a “Hunger Games” themed park to Dubai in 2016. That is relevant because, The New York Times just reported that the dystopian world will also be coming to the U.S. as part of Avatron Park in Atlanta (where most of the franchise was actually filmed),and will open sometime in 2019.

Just in case any of you don’t realize the magnitude of this, Atlanta is 316 miles away. That’s a five-hour drive. Get your mockingjays ready.

The Dubai location will include a re-creation of District 12 where Katniss grew up, a real-life version of Peeta’s bakery, costumed characters, the Hob (District 12’s black market), a lavish Capitol-esque roller coaster resembling the fancy high-speed train from the films, and a simulator ride that will take guests on a hovercraft tour of Panem.

In other depressing news, Kurt Cobain’s famous “MTV Unplugged” cardigan just sold at an auction for a reported $137,000. I’m sure Cobain would be thrilled at this news, considering he once stated the following in an interview: “I look back on going to secondhand stores and finding a little treasure. That almost meant more to me ... rather than having $1,000 and buying a whole store.”

That’s not even the weirdest or creepiest Kurt Cobain-related item being sold. The auction will also feature a lock of his hair for an estimated $4,000, and a 15 percent discount on therapy upon purchase.

The story is, that Courtney Love commissioned doll maker and comic artist Dame Darcy to make a doll for her daughter USING SOME OF COBAIN’S HAIR, because apparently that’s a thing that normal people do.

People. PLEASE stop being so serial killer-y. THIS is why the aliens aren’t stopping when they cruise by, because of stupid nonsense like this.
