A. Hemingway, S.C.

Q. How long have you been in Murrells Inlet?

A. 10 years

Q. What brought you here to the Inlet?

A. I love the beach. I’ve worked at Flo’s Place for nine years.

Q. What are some of the jobs that you do here?

A. I hostess, I serve, I bartend. I wear many hats.

Q.What is your favorite?

A. I like them all. If I could, I would do every position one day a week. Change is good.

Q What is your favorite thing to cook?

A. Probably one of our po’ boys. The bread is grilled. We also have gumbo and other Creole food. It’s good comfort food.

Q. Do you have family that lives in the Inlet?

A. I have a daughter, 15. She’s in high school. She goes to St. James High School.

Q. What is unique about Flo’s Place?

A. We’re different because of our customer service. We’re laid back. We strive to give good customer service.

Q.What’s the most interesting thing about this building, where Flo’s is located?

A. It was an old bait and tackle shop built in the 1930’s.

Q. Do you have any resident ghosts, like sea captains, that hang out here?

A. No.....

Q. Would you want to work in another part of the world?

A. I would probably try New Orleans. I’m going back in December. It’s my second trip. The food and the atmosphere is pretty awesome. Flo’s niece lives on the Mississippi.

Q. So there was a Flo that used to own Flo’s place

A. Yes, she passed away in 2005. I work for her daughter, who is now the owner.
