On the Fly | Strandwide beach and river sweep; Barefoot Landing plans a day of fun
SATURDAY
Do your part this weekend and participate in the Fall River Sweep event held by the Waccamaw Riverkeeper Program of the Winyah Rivers Foundation. From 9 a.m.-noon, volunteers will be cleaning up beaches and rivers across the Strand. The Waccamaw river sweep participants will meet at 4 Elm St., Conway, and will provided with kayaks and canoes for those who want to clean on the water. If you want to launch your own boat, the launch fee is waived.

Barefoot Landing has quite the Saturday planned.
First, all of Barefoot Landing is celebrating September Fest from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. which includes “Flavor of the Landing,” a tasting event spotlighting the restaurants and eateries, with food sales in support of Low Country Food Bank; and specialty and artisan vendors, customized Jeeps on display, a children’s zone, and music. Also Sautrday right across the way, Duplin Winery is hosting a grape stomp. Stomp grapes, listen to music and sample wines. All this for $25 bucks, which also gets you admission to adjacent Alligator Adventure. The event is from 5-9 p.m. Call 800-774-9634 or visit www.duplinwinery.com.
