This Friday is the 14th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Dead Dog Saloon in Murrells Inlet is hosting its 14th annual Local Heroes’ Benefit that day starting at 10 a.m.

The theme is “Honoring America’s Heroes” and the event includes a buffet, live entertainment by more than a dozen area bands, live auctions, silent auctions, 50/50 raffles and more. A formal ceremony is at 1 p.m.

TUESDAY

Things are going to get messy at Carolina Roadhouse on Sept. 15.

As part of its 20th anniversary celebration, the Myrtle Beach restaurant and locals’ favorite is holding a Killer Dog Eating Contest between 10 contestants and two surprise contestants who are vying to eat the most hotdogs and win Killer Dogs for a year from the eatery.

SATURDAY

It’s time to get your groove on.

Drink up and dance down at the House of Blues this Saturday starting at 4 p.m. at the Local Brews, Local Grooves craft beer and music festival.

Get in for 10 bucks (in advance, $12 at the door) and get a sampling wristband for $15 (which will get you five 4-ounce beverages and/or food items). Buy more indiviual sampling tickets for $3 a pop.

You’ll be drinking and eating to the tunes of C2 and the Brothers Reed, Finnegan Bell, Stan Gregory, Holy City Hooligans, Oceans Orange, and Jeremiah Reyes.
