Sugar Life Ice Cream & Candy Bar celebrated its grand opening in June.

Conveniently located on North Kings Highway and across from 21st Avenue, at 2016 N. Kings Highway, this sweets shop seems to have just about every dessert imaginable, from candy to ice cream. They have 32 ice creams to choose from, like the classic cookies and cream or strawberry, plus quite a few unique flavors such as cinnamon churro and raspberry chocolate chunk. They also provide milkshakes if ice cream cones aren’t for you.

A large array of candies that customers can put it baggies are available as well. Mix and match or fill up a bag of a favorite candy, this shop just wants the customer to get their fix. Sugar Life is also now carrying doughnuts, in case your sweet tooth needs more to choose from.

Sugar Life has an official website, www.sugarlifecandy.com, as well as a new Facebook page where they keep it updated with pictures and welcome feedback. This new candy store is open daily, from 9 a.m. to midnight which makes it a perfect spot for a late night snack after a long day of summer fun. Their phone number is 444-4744 but they can also be reached through their website and obviously their Facebook page.

The Taco Bell in front of Gander Mountain has been quickly completed. The new location by Carolina Forest opened on June 30 for lovers of this fast food giant to enjoy.

Palmetto 17, a local family restaurant known for its burgers, appears to have closed down. The building in the shopping area off U.S. 17 before Farrow Parkway is now for sale. Although near another burger joint, Palmetto 17 was still liked for being a family friendly place and proudly local, plus having 17 types of burgers to choose from.

Another new addition has popped up in Pawleys Island called Bourbon and Burnz. In case the name wasn’t a give away, this new business is considered a bourbon and cigar bar situated near the same shopping area as Sabella’s Italian Restaurant off of U.S. 17, at 13089 Ocean Highway, Unit A4.

“We are a full-service bar and cigar lounge specializing in whiskeys located in the heart of the beautiful town of Pawleys Island,” it reads on their Facebook page.

This sophisticated bar will also have a small plate menu and some desserts, but clearly the main attraction is all in the name. They can be reached at 235-3961 or on their Facebook page.
