Cinco de Mayo will be here before you know it, and if you don’t have plans you better get moving.

With one of the most party-related holidays of the year looming on the calendar, we thought it to be necessary to point you in the right direction to the best watering hole for said occasion.

Abuelo’s

First up is Abuelo’s, where six local bands will compete in the Cinco de Mayo Battle of the Bands. Restaurants will feature deals on Mexican food and drink specials with a beer garden and margarita station. Bands will compete for $1,500 in cash and prizes. Bands set to perform include: Bitterseed, Coman Sproles & The Celtic Bluze, TreeHouse!, Eddie Ate Dynamite, Prowler and Below the Bassline.

Abuelo’s will offer $2.50 Dos XX draft beers and $5.95 Special Flag Margaritas on Cinco de Mayo. They’ll start the celebration early with live music on the patio from 6-10 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Live music will be held from noon-11 p.m. May 5. Abuelo’s is located at 740 Coastal Grand Circle in Myrtle Beach.

Bandito’s Restaurant & Cantina

Bandito’s Restaurant and Cantina will host a Cinco de Mayo celebration with live bands, food and beer tents and lots of fun May 5. It’s $30 to participate and runners get an adult beverage after the race at Burro Loco starting at 10 a.m.

The restaurant will serve food and drinks all day and night long. (Or, in their words, “fiesta, siesta, tequila, repeat.) They will offer a free shuttle from 3-11 p.m. every 30 minutes from The Cove clubhouse and the Monarch apartments clubhouse in Conway near CCU. Burro Loco is located at 960 Jason Blvd. in Myrtle Beach.
