In honor of Earth Day, House of Blues will feature farm-to-table fare at its Crossroads restaurant in Barefoot Landing on April 17 and 18, including such yum as grilled Portobello Napoleon, fresh North Carolina Oysters Rockefeller, Sea Scallops, locally raised sirloin steak and more.

“It was an idea that we wanted to try here for a while, and Earth Day seemed like a great time to test a farm-to-table menu,” said Dawn Temples, marketing and promotions manager at House of Blues Myrtle Beach. “Our general manager, executive chef, sous chef and I all worked together to pull it off as a special offering just in time for spring.”

She added that the Wellness Council for South Carolina is working with House of Blues on the event.

“They had some great local connections for farmers and helped us to start the process too,” she said.

The inspiration for this menu stemmed from House of Blues’ desire to not only work with and buy from local farmers and fishermen but to promote healthy eating on the Grand Strand.

Vendors include Lee’s Farm in Murrells Inlet, Barry’s Seafood Market in Cherry Grove, Natural Grown Meat in North Myrtle Beach, A&A Produce in Myrtle Beach and The Olive Shoppe at Barefoot Landing.

You can always expect to see awesome southern-style dishes like jambalaya, fried chicken and shrimp and grits on the menu at Crossroads, but the special Earth Day offerings will only be available this Friday and Saturday.

“We cannot offer these items all the time as we are a corporate restaurant and we have a great corporate menu, but we can keep sourcing from these local vendors,” said Temples. “Some of them we have already worked with and others are great new connections that we can continue to use locally in preparing our everyday menu for Crossroads at House of Blues.”
