Jessica Treska Recalls Bonding With ‘Euphoria' Creator Over Shared Faith

Jessica Treska will never forget her experience filming Euphoria under the grace of creator Sam Levinson.

"I really loved working with Sam. I really, really did," Treska, 23, exclusively shared with Us Weekly on Wednesday, June 3. "He was not only a great director and a great writer and someone who is very collaborative with all of the actors, but he's also just a good human, and he was so great to me."

While the pair bonded over scripts and directions of the show, Treska said they grew closer when discussing their shared faith.

"We got to kind of connect over how special this role is, and what God means," she recalled. "He talks about that a lot on set and at the premiere. It really does mean a lot to him, and it means a lot to me. I do kind of feel like that's something rare to find in this industry as a director that you can share those beliefs with, and someone who makes projects as impactful as this."

During the third season of Euphoria, Treska played Daisy Miller, a fictional religious character who is removed from society. She was introduced in the season 3 premiere as Rue (Zendaya) left the Miller family homestead behind.

Daisy later appeared in the finale when Ali (Colman Domingo) visited the farm after avenging Rue's death by killing her boss, Alamo Brown (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), in an epic showdown. After learning of her friend's death, Daisy was visibly shaken by the news and participated in a prayer in Rue's honor.

Now that her character's story has come to an end, Treska is hopeful viewers can find a belief "in something greater than yourself."

"There is something after this life that can literally take you out of the deepest depths, like Rue, and what she's going through," Treska explained. "It lifted her out of that, and the biggest part of that, I think, is taking you out of your own guilt. I think that's one of the worst sufferings is feeling like you've done wrong in this world. She was able to search for redemption, and I think her story is so unique."

While Treska "would be so honored" to work with Levinson, 41, again, she's excited to see what acting opportunities come her way in the future.

Instead of being focused on one genre or one type of character she would play, Treska is more interested in making an "impact."

"I think the only requirement I really have for a role is that there's depth to it," she explained. "I want people to be able to connect with any character that I play. If it's the evil character, that you see some humanity in me. If it's the religious farm girl, that you see that curiosity in me."

Euphoria is streaming on HBO Max.
