Myrtle Beach native Stevie Woodward wins spot at Pilgrimage Festival

Myrtle Beach native Stevie Woodward has won an online contest to play at a music festival that includes her idol, Sheryl Crow.

Fresh with her debut CD, “Stevie Woodward,” released June 9 on iTunes, the singer-songwriter-guitarist will open for Scotty McCreery on Friday at House of Blues, at Barefoot Landing, on U.S. 17 in North Myrtle Beach.

Woodward said she found out by email Monday afternoon that she won from 20 finalists chosen by fan vote for a spot to perform at the Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival Sept. 26-27 in Franklin, Tenn. (pilgrimagefestival.com), among about 30 acts, including Jimmy Cliff, Dr. John, Willie Nelson, Weezer, and Wilco.

A 2011 graduate of Myrtle Beach High School, Woodward is a senior at Middle Tennessee State University, as a recording industry major with a concentration in songwriting,

The concert headlined this Friday by McCreery, an “American Idol” winner and native of Garner, N.C., near Raleigh, begins at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $29 for general admission, plus fees. Details at 272-3000 or www.hob.com/myrtlebeach, and www.steviewoodward.com.
