Joan Leotta’s latest book for children, Rosa’s Shell, is the perfect gift for anyone who has a small child who loves the beach. Rosa and her Dad and Mom come to the beach for a restful week of vacation. Rosa has other ideas. She wants to go out onto the beach at dawn to look for shells. Her Dad goes with her. They find some wonderful shells--including the South Carolina state shell, the lettered olive. Then, Rosa spies a perfect scallop shell, but before she can grab it, the tide tries to steal it back into the ocean. Rosa’s Dad runs to help — can he retrieve it for her?
This is a wonderful tale of Daddy-daughter bonding at the beach, a great selection for a Father’s Day gift for any dad.
