The city of North Myrtle Beach is making splashes in two giant ways this summer, and group rates are available at both sites:
▪ Grand opening weekend for Greg Norman Jr.’s Shark Wake Park – showcasing “cable wakeboarding,” with riders pulled by a high-tech pulley system, instead of a boat, and no experience required – noon-6 p.m. Friday-Saturday at North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex, at S.C. 90 and Robert Edge Parkway. Free to see, including pro exhibition at 6 p.m. both days. Daily pass rates to ride start at $34, and monthly, six-month and annual passes. ▪ The Hipster XL inflatable beach slide is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily through Sept. 5 at the city’s Ocean Park, at First Avenue South and Ocean Boulevard, one block south of Main Street. This unit replaces the Trippo water slide in use for 2013-14 and is 40 feet tall, 27 feet wide, and about 175 feet long.
