Skating, music and movies top affordable things to do this month | On the Cheap

If you’re into live music or looking for something to keep the kids busy this summer, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s a list of free and cheap summer entertainment:

Friday, Saturday and Sunday (6/10-6/12)

The Broadway at the Beach Summer Nights Entertainment Series is back with free entertainment every night of the week through September 4. The series will feature live music, comedy, juggling, a fashion show, princess and super hero appearances, face painting, Legends in Concert golf cart tours and more. Barefoot Landing is also providing free entertainment every night through September 3 during its annual SummerFest. There will be live music, juggling, a DJ Dance Party, sing-alongs, shag dancing demonstrations, face painting, character appearances, strolling entertainers and more. Monday (6/13)

Fun Warehouse at 2349 Dick Pond Road is participating in a national Kids Skate Free program this summer for kids ages 10 and under. Each week, the kids will get passes they can use to skate for free (Monday or Wednesday from noon to 5 p.m.). Skate rental is not included. You’ll need to sign your kids up for the free skating vouchers at http://kidsskatefree.com/.

Tuesday (6/14)

Grand 14 Cinema at The Market Common will be showing free kids’ movies on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. throughout the summer. They’ll also be selling popcorn and drinks for $1 each until 10:20. This week’s movie is Home (PG). Thursday (6/16)

On the third Thursday in June and July from 7-10 p.m., The Market Common will be putting on a free concert in Valor Park. Beer, wine, soft drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. Bring a blanket or chairs.

The city of North Myrtle Beach is putting on its annual Music on Main Concert Series from 7-9 p.m. every Thursday night through October 6. Admission is free. The concerts will either be on Main Street or at The Horseshoe (11 S. Ocean Blvd.). You can find the schedule at http://parks.nmb.us/Page.aspx?id=11. You might want to bring a chair.

Saturday (6/18)

From noon to 6 p.m., La Belle Amie Vineyard at 1120 St. Joseph Road in Little River is holding a Summer’s First Saturday Cookout. Admission is $3, but if you bring three canned goods to be donated to local food pantries, they’ll let you in for free. This event includes live music, wine tasting, a vineyard tour and food and drinks for purchase. You may want to bring a chair.
