Vintage fashion show reminiscent of Downton Abbey
Ladies Guild members of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in North Myrtle Beach are preparing for the second annual Vintage Fashion Show April 30.
“This is Downton Abbey-inspired,” said GeorgAnn Feldman, president of the Guild. She plans to wear a black dress with white accents she found at a thrift store. She completes the outfit with a crocheted black lace-like sweater and black headband highlighted by a white satin rosette and feather that member Jane Maggio made for the occasion.
Gloria Fanelli, chair of the event, wears an aqua crocheted sweater, also crocheted by Maggio, draped across her shoulders. Suzanne Crossley wears Anita Muise’s vintage-like pencil-thin, floor-length, pleated beige dress with a print empire-tied shirt blouse. She made her own and Fanelli’s headbands. The women accessorize with their own jewelry.
Returning with the vintage fashions is Annie Weiland from The Way We Wore in Hilton Head. A dozen women will model the more than 30 outfits in the show.
Refreshments include finger sandwiches and scones Guild members are making. A variety of teas will be served.
“The show is a reminder of the past elegance,” Feldman says. “It’s a peek at the clothing of that time.”
“It was a great era,” Fanelli adds. “It’s a look at the past.”
